News & Resources > Step Out For Inclusion 2018!

A group of 3 pictures from the Step out for Inclusion event - a group photo of everyone who participated, a photo of people's backs as they walked, another photo of a man looking happy

The weather was overcast but warm – a perfect day for being outside at Springbank Gardens. People arrived, ready for a fun afternoon with food, music, dancing and walking. As folks registered, people received a reusable water bottle, thanks to our sponsor Gallagher Insurance. Alice Saddy t-shirts and 50/50 tickets were available for purchase.

After a group photo, we all walked on the trail through from the Gardens, through Springbank Park, down to the bridge and back, getting an Hawaiian lei at the turn-around spot, for each lap walked.

Our special musical guest, Paul Elvis (Paul Nagy Sr.), sang lots of fan favourites as people clapped, tapped their feet, and got up and boogied!

The BBQ, served by Steel Grill, was delicious, with hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers and all the fixings.

After everyone had their fill of food, we listened to more great music, and drew the winner of the 50/50 draw – Alexis Portillo. Congratulations to you!

Overall, it was a great afternoon and we’re grateful for everyone who participated, from our walkers and dancers, to our sponsors, donors, and volunteers. The money raised will go toward helping those we support have greater access to continuing education and increased community participation. We thank each one who contributed to our event. We couldn’t have done it without you!
