We are a not-for-profit organization that supports individuals with developmental disabilities so they're able to live independently and thrive in the community they call home.
We have a rich history of advocating so individuals can live the life of their choosing.
Since our founding in 1973, we've recognized the individual hopes, dreams and needs of the people we support with a focus on providing person-directed supports. This means not only empowering individuals and families to have a voice, but also providing supports that reflect what they've shared.
We're grateful for our dedicated staff who are committed to helping individuals lead their best lives. They continue to adapt to meet the needs of individuals we support while looking for ways to help those who currently don't receive our services.
Our 2024-2028 Strategic Plan sets the course for where our organization is headed.
The following are the strategic priorities that will guide our efforts.
We recognize the importance of empowering individuals and their families to have a voice, understand their options and direct decisions related to their supports and life. This starts with strengthening self- advocacy skills to ensure individual support plans reflect individual interests and are developed through a meaningful person-directed planning process.
We are committed to ensuring staff feel valued and understand the purpose of their work. This includes staff understanding the important position they play, having the skillsets needed to provide person-directed supports and are accountable to helping individuals have valued experiences. Staff will recognize and respect the role of diverse relationships in a person’s life and value the role of families. All of this is done in an equitable, diverse and and inclusive work nenvironment.
We continue to streamline operational processes to ensure the best use of time and resources, which is essential to maximizing the quality of supports provided to individuals, families and staff. This includes creating cohesive teams around the individual, minimizing paperwork and streamlining the orientation process.
We recognize the need to be responsive to individuals and families who don’t currently receive support while not reducing the quality of services we offer. We are committed to working with our community, responding to their needs through creativity, flexibility and innovation.
We are grateful for the passion and commitment of our board members who volunteer their time to help guide our organization to meet the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities.
Having worked in developmental services organizations for many years, our leadership team brings a wide range of perspectives and experiences in guiding the organization.
We respect each person, their voice and their perspective
We value relationship building and collaboration with others to achieve our goals
We are accountable and transparent to our community and each other
We are flexible and resourceful in our approaches to the work we do and challenges encountered
Alice Saddy was well known in London for her volunteer work assisting adults with disabilities. Alice Saddy Association was founded in 1973 as a way to honour her memory upon her passing.
Our first home on Wolfe Street was opened in November 1973. Over the years we've evolved from teaching daily living skills in a group-home setting to focusing on the needs of the individual.
Empowering people with disabilities.
